Sera's Women's Shelter is seeking a passionate and experienced domestic violence specialist to support women and children escaping violence by empowering women to gain independent and safe accommodation.
You will be able to recognise the effects of domestic violence on women and children, provide culturally appropriate support and case management to enable women to meet their needs for safety and long-term goal setting.
About the role The position is a permanent part-time role, working 56 hours across a regular fortnightly roster: Week 1

Tuesday 8 hours
The role includes a combination of on-site duties and on-call responsibilities as part of a rotating roster.
Reporting to the Team Leader, you will work across Sera's programs to provide support to victim survivors escaping domestic violence by providing trauma-informed, case co-ordination and crisis management skills.
It is a requirement that this position is filled by a woman, as under Section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act ****, sex is a genuine occupational qualification.
Required qualifications and experience
Individuals with a Bachelors in social work, psychology, or relevant human services discipline or working towards are encouraged to apply
Diploma of community services, psychological science, or relevant human services discipline (highly desirable)
2 years experience in the domestic and family violence sector, or similar field
Role requirements
Current drivers licence
Positive Notice of a Working with Children Check (Blue card) – or ability to obtain prior to commencement
First aid and CPR Certificate (or willingness to obtain once employed)




Required skills and knowledge
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the effects of domestic violence on women and children from a feminist perspective
Understanding of relevant legislation including Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act ****, Child Protection Act **** and DFV Information Sharing Guidelines
Demonstrated crisis intervention, case management, and trauma-informed practice skills
Demonstrated ability to be highly organised, prioritise tasks, and manage competing demands with a versatile and resourceful approach
Experience in working with women from Indigenous and other cultural backgrounds
Ability to work both independently and co-operatively within a team environment
Sound knowledge, or ability to acquire knowledge of, local community organisations and demonstrated networking skills
Excellent written/oral communication skills and competency with technology systems
About the offer
Hourly rate of $***** to $***** base rate + weekend penalty rates in accordance with the SCHADS award.
