Plympton Tyrepower is looking for an experienced Motor Mechanic to join their team in Camden Park 5038, South Australia on a full time basis.
Description
The Motor Mechanic plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation, safety, and reliability of customer vehicles. They are responsible for diagnosing, repairing, servicing and maintaining vehicles in accordance with manufacturer specifications, Australian roadworthy standards, and workshop procedures.
Key Duties:
- Perform scheduled vehicle servicing (log book services) in accordance with manufacturer specifications and maintenance schedules
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical and electronic faults using diagnostic scan tools and manual testing methods
- Inspect, repair and replace worn or faulty vehicle components, including brakes, suspension, steering, clutches and drivetrain systems
- Carry out wheel alignments, wheel balancing and tyre fitting, and assess tyre wear patterns for underlying mechanical issues
- Inspect and service exhaust systems, cooling systems, air conditioning systems and engine management systems
- Conduct roadworthy (safety) inspections and certify vehicles in accordance with South Australian regulatory requirements
- Road test vehicles before and after repairs to confirm faults have been rectified and vehicles are safe to operate
- Complete accurate job cards, service records and diagnostic reports for each vehicle worked on
- Communicate with the Service Advisor/Manager regarding required repairs, parts, and estimated completion times
- Provide transparent explanations of required work and repair recommendations to customers where needed
- Order and source appropriate parts, ensuring correct fitment and quality
- Maintain workshop tools, equipment and lifting devices in safe, calibrated working order
- Follow all workplace health and safety (WHS) procedures, including safe handling of hazardous substances,
lifting equipment and hoists
- Keep the workshop bay clean, organised and compliant with workshop safety standards
- Stay up to date with new vehicle technologies, manufacturer bulletins and industry best practice through ongoing training
Qualifications & Experience
- At least 12 months experience working as a Motor Mechanic or in a similar role.
- A relevant trade qualification in a relevant field such as a Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or similar is ideal.
- Automotive mechanical and repair skills including working on suspension for light vehicles.
- Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair various automotive mechanical issues, including experience using diagnostic tools.
- General automotive knowledge.
- Good communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work autonomously.
- Physically fit.
- Australian Driver Licence.
