About the Role:
Fastmax Pty Ltd ATF Valasidis Family Trust T/A Custom Boxes is seeking a skilled and motivated Engineering Technologist to join its team, offering a salary range of AUD $75,000 – $85,000 per annum plus superannuation. The successful candidate will be responsible for applying engineering technology and technical principles to the design, development, testing, improvement and production of customised packaging products and manufacturing processes. This role requires strong technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, attention to detail and the ability to develop practical engineering solutions that support production efficiency, product quality and organisational objectives.
Responsibilities
- Research, identify and recommend electrical and automation technologies to support engineering activities, product development and manufacturing processes.
- Modify existing engineering technologies, electrical control systems and processes to improve their efficiency, effectiveness, reliability and performance.
- Collaborate with engineers, engineering professionals, production personnel and other stakeholders to develop and implement practical engineering solutions.
- Apply engineering technologies in the testing, development and implementation of engineering projects, production processes and technical improvements.
- Conduct trials, experiments and technical tests on electrical equipment, machinery, control systems and automated production processes to assess their performance, reliability, energy efficiency and operational effectiveness.
- Develop and modify engineering designs, drawings,
specifications and technical documentation for customised boxes, packaging products, production equipment and manufacturing processes.
- Apply engineering principles and technological knowledge to improve the design, functionality, durability and manufacturability of customised packaging products.
- Assist with planning, developing and implementing production processes, machinery layouts, tooling, equipment and manufacturing systems.
- Assess the suitability and performance of electrical components, motors, control devices, sensors, automation equipment and other engineering technologies for use in packaging production and manufacturing projects.
- Set up and operate CNC cutting systems such as iECHO digital cutters, adjusting electrical control settings, drive systems, cutting head parameters and automation sequences to achieve accurate, specification‑compliant outputs.
- Collect electrical, operational and production data, perform technical measurements and calculations, analyse test results and prepare engineering reports, charts, records and technical documentation
- Inspect product designs, prototypes, machinery, equipment and completed products to ensure compliance with technical and electrical specifications, quality requirements and applicable standards
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of motors, drives, sensors, control devices, electrical panels and automated equipment used within packaging manufacturing operations and recommend appropriate engineering improvements.
- Investigate production problems, equipment faults, identify root causes and implement appropriate corrective and preventative measures.
- Monitor production processes and recommend engineering improvements to increase efficiency, reduce material wastage,
improve product quality and optimise manufacturing performance.
- Maintain accurate records of testing, inspections, measurements, modifications, production trials and engineering activities, and prepare relevant technical reports.
- Follow established engineering procedures, quality requirements, workplace health and safety requirements and relevant regulatory standards when carrying out all technical and production activities.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology, Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar role as an Engineering Technologist.
- Strong knowledge of engineering principles, manufacturing and production systems.
- Experience in product development, technical drawings, engineering documentation and design modification.
- Experience in analysing production processes, identifying technical issues and implementing practical engineering improvements.
- Understanding of materials, machinery, equipment and manufacturing methods relevant to production environments.
- Proficiency in preparing technical drawings, specifications, reports and other engineering documentation.
- Ability to collect technical data, perform calculations, conduct testing and interpret engineering and production results accurately.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical and attention-to-detail skills.
- Strong communication, teamwork and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver work within required timeframes.
