The Opportunity

Mineral Resources is looking for an experienced Manager Mine Planning – Iron Ore. Reporting to the General Manager Studies and Planning, you will lead a high-performing team responsible for the development and delivery of our two-year, 5 year and Life of Mine (LOM) plans. This role is critical and underpins strategic decision-making, capital planning and successful operational execution across our iron ore business.
What you’ll do
- Lead and develop a team of mine planning professionals, creating an inclusive, capable and high-performing workplace.
- Design and oversee mine-planning practices, policies and governance for strategic and tactical planning.
- Deliver clear, actionable planning insights to executive leadership, supporting business decisions, capital allocation and execution certainty.
- Champion technical governance, project custodianship and the integration of planning outcomes with Technical Board and Executive Steering Committee objectives.
- Ensure the quality, governance and effective use of geology and mine-planning data, optimisation and scheduling models.
- Drive best-practice optimisation processes,
assumptions management, performance tracking and reconciliation.
- Provide strategic direction for studies and problem solving to achieve practical, cost-effective and value-accretive mining outcomes.
- Act as the Competent Person for Iron Ore Reserve reporting and contribute to MROR Steering Committee governance.
- Identify, communicate and manage planning, technical, commercial, environmental and execution risks.
- Contribute to the mine planning and operations technology roadmap, including data, systems and automation improvements.
What you’ll bring
- A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering, Geology or a related technical discipline.
- Membership of a recognised professional body, such as AusIMM.
- The capability to act as a Competent Person for Ore Reserve reporting.
- Proven experience in a senior mine-planning or technical leadership role.
- Experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
- Strong knowledge of bulk commodity supply chains and strategic mine planning.
- Experience contributing to studies, approvals, technology implementation or data-system improvements.
- Strong analytical, communication and influencing skills.
