About the role

Reporting to the CEO, this is a leadership role with responsibility for governance, compliance, HR, finance administration, child safety and WHS. You will direct the work needed and deliver outcomes, drawing on external specialists for technical HR, payroll, accounting and child safety advice. This role isn't front-line; however, you will handle serious incidents, child safety matters, sensitive staff and client information, and be part of making sure our people are properly supported during difficult times.

Key responsibilities

- Child safety - acting as FTS Child Safe Delegate

- Governance, compliance & WHS

- Advisory Group and CEO support

- Policy and systems building and maintenance

- HR Administration – ensuring all employee terms are compliant & documentation is correct

- Payroll & employment systems

- Finance administration

About you

- At least 5 years in a governance, compliance or operations management role, ideally in not-for-profit, community services, youth or education

- An understanding of the qualities a respected leader demonstrates

- Self-motivation, action oriented

- An eye for the details and a desire to ensure communication, documents and reporting are of a high standard

- Empathy and kindness, and the ability to get along with all sorts of people in a small team

- Working knowledge of not-for-profit regulatory obligations, including ACNC and ASIC reporting, statutory registers and compliance calendars

- HR generalist capability - contracts, award interpretation, performance frameworks,



and the judgement to know when to escalate to specialist advice

- HR issues management

- Sound financial administration skills: internal controls, delegations, budget monitoring, grant tracking and acquittals, and working well with an external accountant

- Practical experience implementing and maintaining a WHS system across one or more sites

FTS is a youth organisation based in Ipswich providing holistic, wrap-around support for young people who've spent time in youth detention - a 'protected place to land' that helps them build connection and belonging and re-engage with their community safely and with the right support around them. We're a small, experienced team with the governance & framework in place to guide our staff and address our current number of young people needing support. We are moving to the next stage in our strategic plan and need an experienced practitioner to review our frameworks and processes with a view to adapting them to support our expected growth and our desire to ensure compliance is at the forefront of any changes we make.
