About the role

As Reception Lead, you will provide hands-on reception support while helping coordinate and maintain high standards across the reception team. This role is ideal for an experienced medical receptionist who enjoys taking ownership of the front desk, supporting other reception staff and ensuring the day-to-day operation of the practice runs smoothly. You will work closely with Operations Manager, doctors and nursing team.

Salary will be negotiable with experience and opportunity to progress to practice managerial role if suitable.

Key responsibilities

- Leading and supporting the reception team during daily operations

- Coordinating front-desk workflow and helping manage busy periods

- Allocating and coordinating reception shifts and daily duties

- Assisting with reception rosters, shift coverage and leave planning

- Monitoring attendance, punctuality and shift performance

- Ensuring appointments are booked correctly and appropriate appointment types are selected

- Supporting reception staff with patient enquiries, phone calls and email correspondence

- Handling patient complaints professionally and escalating clinical or serious concerns appropriately

- Monitoring outstanding patient accounts and debtors

About you





- Previous experience working in a medical practice

- Strong experience with medical reception and patient administration

- Previous senior reception, supervisory or team leadership experience

- Experience using Best Practice Software or similar practice management software

- Valuable understanding of Medicare billing and private billing

- Excellent telephone and written communication skills

- Strong attention to detail

- Confidence managing multiple priorities in a busy environment

- Ability to support and guide junior reception staff

- Ability to liaise and support our doctors and patients needs

- Confidence managing difficult conversations and patient complaints
