NSW Health Pathology is seeking a Senior Medical Laboratorty Scientist In Charge of Section to lead the Haematology and Transfusion Services at Campbelltown Hospital Laboratory. As part of a busy and rapidly expanding service, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality diagnostic testing across Haematology, Morphology, Routine Coagulation and Blood Bank services, supporting critical patient care across South Western Sydney. This is an exciting opportunity to join a modern laboratory that has recently undergone significant redevelopment and is entering a new phase of growth and innovation.

As the second-in-charge to the Laboratory Manager, you'll contribute to service development, workforce leadership and the ongoing expansion of laboratory services, while working alongside a skilled and supportive team. What you'll be doing
The Senior Hospital Scientist In Charge is responsible for the supervision and coordination of Haematology and Transfusion Services to ensure the delivery of safe, efficient and high-quality pathology services. As the second-in-charge (2IC) to the Laboratory Manager,



the position provides operational and leadership support across the laboratory, contributes to workforce management, service development and quality improvement initiatives, and acts on behalf of the Laboratory Manager during periods of leave or absence.

1. Bachelor Degree or higher degree in Science/Medical Laboratory Science or an equivalent qualification, with subjects relevant to pathology from a recognised tertiary institution.
2. Customer focused approach displaying well-developed interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with customers, patients and clinical and laboratory staff, along with report writing skills, statistical evaluation of scientific data and the ability to effectively communicate policies and procedures
3. Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of accreditation frameworks, relevant standards and quality systems
4. Demonstrated managerial skills with experience in laboratory operations, administration and budgeting
5.



Advanced knowledge of Pathology Laboratory Information Systems including supervision of e-based Quality Management Systems
6. Extensive high level knowledge of working within the relevant section of the laboratory with knowledge of the operation and maintenance of analytical equipment in a pathology laboratory
7. Sound understanding of legislation, policies and requirements that impact the laboratory environment including work health and safety and privacy requirements
