Hunter New England Local Health District is seeking a Locum General Medicine RMO to support ward-based medical coverage at a regional hospital.

This role is suited to a doctor with recent General Medicine experience who is confident reviewing patients, supporting inpatient care, completing documentation and escalating clinical concerns appropriately.

There are 10 weekday shifts available from 21 September to 2 October 2026, with shifts generally running 08:00 – 16:30.

Clinical Environment

You will provide General Medicine RMO cover in a regional hospital setting within Hunter New England LHD.

- General Medicine ward cover – support inpatient reviews and day-to-day medical care
- Weekday roster – shifts generally run Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 16:30
- Regional hospital setting – work within Hunter Recent England LHD
- Supportive environment – work with medical, nursing and allied health teams
- Clear escalation pathways – escalate patient concerns appropriately when required

Patient Demographic

You will support a broad General Medicine inpatient mix, including adults, older patients, acute medical admissions, chronic disease presentations, complex comorbidities and patients requiring review, management planning, escalation or ongoing ward-based care.

Key Duties

- Review and manage General Medicine patients
- Support ward-based inpatient care
- Complete clinical documentation and handover
- Assist with management plans and patient flow
- Escalate patient concerns appropriately




- Work collaboratively with nursing, allied health and medical teams

Requirements

- Current AHPRA Registration
- Recent General Medicine experience at RMO level
- Strong communication and clinical documentation skills
- Ability to work safely within scope and escalate appropriately
- Current CV, references and compliance documents as required
