Rowing is currently seeking applicants to fill the positions of:

*All positions are casual loading, with additional hours at casual rate too.

Melbourne Girls’ College – Rowing Coach

Purpose of the Role

To deliver safe, high-quality coaching sessions that develop athlete skill, resilience and confidence, while upholding the safety standards, qualified conduct and values of Melbourne Girls' College.

Key Responsibilities

Coaching & Program Delivery:

- Deliver land and water sessions in line with the program set by the Director of Rowing

- Teach MGC technical framework, safe boat handling, rigging and equipment care

- Execute sessions with clear technical priorities and progressive skill development

- Provide constructive,



athlete-centred feedback and support student ownership of learning

Safety & Duty of Care:

- Act as the responsible adult for all students in your care; safety takes priority over session completion

- Conduct pre-launch checks (crew, boat, heel restraints, communication equipment, weather/river conditions)

- Operate powerboats/bikes only when authorised, following all safety and equipment protocols

- Respond to capsize or emergency situations following MGC procedure

- Recognise and respond appropriately to child safety concerns or disclosures as a mandatory reporter

Professional Conduct:

- Maintain clear professional boundaries with students at all times

- Model MGC values of Excellence, Teamwork and Diversity

- Communicate respectfully with students, families, coordinators and other schools/clubs

- Protect student privacy and confidentiality of selection/performance information

- Present a united, professional front alongside coaching colleagues

Operational Duties:

- Arrive minimum 10 minutes prior to session start

- Accurately record attendance, hours and incident reports

- Maintain equipment, sheds and safety gear in good order

- Attend regattas, camps and Carrum sessions as rostered

- Provide timely notice of unavailability and support replacement coach arrangements

Essential Requirements:

- Current Working with Children Check

- Relevant rowing coaching qualification/experience (or willingness to undertake Rowing Victoria coach education)

- Current First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

- Powerboat licence (where operating MGC powerboats)

- Sound understanding of child safety obligations
