Help lead what’s next in Melbourne traffic

Yunex Traffic is seeking an experienced Traffic Signals and Intelligent Transport Systems Leading Hand to join our growing Melbourne team.

This is a hands-on field leadership role for someone who knows the Victorian traffic signal environment, takes pride in delivering high-quality work and can lead crews safely through planned, reactive and installation activities.

You will work across established traffic signal infrastructure and emerging technologies, including advanced detection, connected transport systems and other next-generation ITS equipment.

If you are an experienced Leading Hand, senior traffic signal electrician or ITS electrician ready to take greater ownership of field delivery, we would like to hear from you.

What you will do

In this role, you will:

- Lead and work alongside field crews delivering traffic signal and ITS works

- Coordinate daily activities, resources, equipment, subcontractors and traffic management

- Conduct pre-starts and ensure work is performed in accordance with approved safe work methods

- Promote a strong safety culture and stop work when conditions are unsafe or change

- Install, modify, inspect, test and commission traffic signal and ITS assets

- Diagnose faults and provide practical technical support to employees and subcontractors

- Review work requirements, drawings, specifications and site conditions before work begins

- Ensure work is completed safely, on time and to the required quality standard

- Liaise professionally with customers, contractors and other project stakeholders

- Support the preparation and commissioning of traffic signal controllers, detection systems and associated equipment

- Complete required field records, test results and work documentation

- Coach and support less-experienced employees

- Participate in technical and safety training

- Join an after-hours standby roster where required

What we are looking for

You will be a practical and reliable field leader with demonstrated experience in the Victorian traffic signal and ITS sector.

Essential requirements

- Current Victorian electrical licence





- Construction Induction Card, commonly known as a White Card

- Full Australian driver licence or approved equivalent

- Recent hands-on experience delivering Victorian traffic signal or ITS works

- Demonstrated experience leading field crews or coordinating site activities

- Strong electrical testing, fault-finding and commissioning capability

- Working knowledge of relevant Victorian traffic signal and ITS specifications

- Ability to plan work, manage changing priorities and meet delivery deadlines

- Clear written and verbal communication skills

- Solid commitment to safety, quality and teamwork

- Ability to meet the applicable Department of Transport and Planning prequalification experience requirements

Experience that will be highly regarded

- Traffic signal controller training or certification

- SCATS knowledge

- Experience with traffic signal installation requirements

- Experience with ITS and electrical device installation requirements

- Vehicle detection, communications, vehicle-to-everything or artificial intelligence detection experience

- Experience coordinating traffic management providers and subcontractors

- Experience completing inspection, test and commissioning documentation
