Due to an increased demand within our business, SYPAQ is seeking an Artificial Intelligence Governance, Assurance and TEVV Specialist to work on a Defence project. The contract starts on 12 October 2026 to 31 October 2027 plus 2 x 12-month potential extensions. This is an office-based role at the Land Network Integration Centre in Symonston, ACT.

Overview:
Our Client is seeking an experienced Artificial Intelligence Governance, Assurance and TEVV Specialist to provide specialist technical expertise to support the establishment and maturation of Army’s Artificial Intelligence Test, Evaluation, Verification and Validation (AI TEVV) capability.

The role will support the development of AI assurance frameworks, testing methodologies, governance processes and evaluation activities to ensure AI-enabled systems are secure, reliable, trustworthy, operationally effective and compliant with Defence policy, regulatory and assurance requirements.
The position will support Army’s AI Governance and Assurance function through the development and review of governance artefacts, interpretation of policy and governance requirements, technical assessment of AI-enabled systems and technologies, and provision of evidence-based advice to senior stakeholders and capability decision-makers.
The role requires the ability to assess AI performance, security, reliability, trustworthiness, model integrity, operational effectiveness, limitations and risks. It will also support the planning, coordination and oversight of AI evaluation activities undertaken by Defence, industry, DSTG and other organisations, enabling Army to act as an informed customer and assurance authority for AI-related activities.

Solid stakeholder engagement is required across Defence, industry,



academia and other government organisations, together with the ability to translate complex technical findings into transparent, concise and actionable advice, reports and decision-support products for senior stakeholders.

Essential criteria

- Demonstrated experience in Artificial Intelligence governance, assurance, Test, Evaluation, Verification and Validation (TEVV), or the technical assessment of AI-enabled systems and technologies.
- Demonstrated experience assessing AI-enabled systems, technical evidence, performance claims, limitations and risks, including considerations relating to security, reliability, trustworthiness, model integrity and operational effectiveness.
- Experience developing, maintaining and reviewing AI governance and assurance artefacts, including AI Use Cases, System Cards, Model Cards and related documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to review AI-related policies, submissions, technical papers and proposals and provide advice on their implications.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse complex technical, operational and policy issues and provide evidence-based, risk-informed advice to decision-makers.
- Experience supporting the planning, coordination or oversight of AI assurance and evaluation activities, including assessments conducted by Defence, industry, research organisations or other third parties.
- Demonstrated ability to identify risks, issues and opportunities associated with AI-enabled capabilities and recommend appropriate mitigation or management strategies.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate complex technical findings into clear, concise and actionable advice, reports and decision-support products.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with demonstrated ability to build productive relationships across Defence, industry, academia, government and other technical organisations.





Highly desirable qualifications

- Relevant professional qualifications, training, certifications or registrations in Artificial Intelligence, systems or software engineering, Test and Evaluation, assurance, governance, data science or a related technical discipline.
- Experience developing or maturing AI governance, assurance or TEVV frameworks and methodologies within complex, regulated or high-assurance environments.
- Experience independently evaluating AI solutions and reviewing or interpreting assessment activities undertaken by third parties.
- Experience working within Defence or Government environments on AI-related capability, governance, assurance, Test and Evaluation or technical assessment activities.
- Experience engaging with Defence, industry, academia, research organisations and other government stakeholders to support AI governance, assurance and capability outcomes.
- Experience supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of governance and assurance arrangements for emerging technologies.

The successful applicant must be an Australian Citizen with an existing Negative Vetting Two (NV2) Security clearance.
