About the role:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated AV technician to support the delivery of seamless audio visual experiences across meetings, conferences and events. This is a hands on role suited to someone who thrives in a fast paced environment, enjoys problem solving in real time and takes pride in delivering high quality technical support. Multiple casual positions are available, offering flexible hours and the opportunity to work on diverse projects across multiple areas.
Key responsibilities:
- Install,
configure and operate a wide range of AV equipment, including projectors, sound systems, microphones, lighting, video conferencing tools and digital signage, for meetings, conferences and events.
- Provide on the spot technical support during events, quickly diagnosing and resolving issues to keep everything running smoothly.
- Carry out regular checks, maintenance and repairs on AV equipment, and maintain accurate inventory records, reporting any repairs or replacements needed.
- Work closely with event organisers and other hotel departments to understand AV requirements, plan the setup and execute according to the event schedule, including attending weekly event order meetings.
- Assist in training hotel staff and clients on the basic operation of AV systems, and offer guidance on best practice.
- Maintain logs of equipment usage and issues, document new setups for future reference, and compile monthly equipment audits with breakage and prevention plans.
- Ensure all setups comply with safety standards, EVT policies and AV industry regulations, minimising risks associated with electrical equipment.
What you'll bring:
- Proven experience operating and troubleshooting AV equipment such as soundboards, lighting controls, projectors and video conferencing systems, or a recent graduate or student in a related field.
- Strong understanding of audio, video and lighting technologies, with the ability to explain AV concepts clearly to non-technical clients.
- Excellent problem solving skills, with the ability to think on your feet and stay calm and effective under pressure.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly, courteous and professional approach to clients and colleagues.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends, as events dictate.
- Ability to lift up to 25kg, stand for extended periods and manoeuvre equipment as needed for event setups, sometimes in challenging environments.
