About the Role

MSS Security is seeking skilled, reliable and customer-focused Terminal Security Officers to join our team at Hobart International Airport. This role provides a visible security presence throughout the airport terminal and surrounding precinct, helping maintain a safe, secure and welcoming environment for passengers, staff and visitors.

Duties

- Conduct security patrols of the terminal, forecourt, aprons, airport roads and car parks.
- Monitor and report security, safety and operational concerns.
- Respond promptly and professionally to security incidents.
- Apply effective verbal de-escalation and conflict resolution techniques when responding to challenging or escalating behaviours.
- Engage respectfully with passengers experiencing distress and provide first aid when required.
- Maintain accurate security logs, patrol records and incident reports.
- Provide a professional and customer-focused security presence throughout the airport.

Ideal candidates will have

- Confidence applying de-escalation techniques and managing challenging behaviour without unnecessarily escalating a situation.
- Patience, empathy and the ability to communicate respectfully with vulnerable or distressed people.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- A professional presentation and reliable approach to work.
- Previous experience in security, aviation, transport,



mental health support or another public-facing operational environment will be highly regarded.
- Flexibility to work across a variety of shifts, including weekends and public holidays.

Requirements

- Full Australian working rights.
- A current Tasmanian Security Agent Licence.
- A current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
- Ability to obtain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC).
- Ability to undergo a medical assessment, including drug and alcohol testing.
