Matic Transport Australia is looking for an experienced WA Operations Manager to lead our Tanker & Packaged Division across Western Australia.

Due to continued growth and upcoming projects, Matic Transport Australia is seeking a WA Operations Manager to support the National Operations Manager -MTA and lead our Tanker & Packaged division.
About the role
To provide safe, compliant and commercially effective leadership of Matic Transport Australia's (MTA) WA Tanker & Packaged Division across multiple sites, servicing clients with the transport of bulk and packaged cementitious products, controlled waste and other products via a mixed fleet of local and linehaul pneumatic tankers, Isotainers, tautliner operations and semi-trailers. The role is accountable for operational performance, people leadership, Work Health Safety and Environmental compliance as well as Chain of Responsibility/Heavy Vehicle Operations compliance in a safety‑critical environment.
The position oversees operations to ensure a seamless, consistently high standard of service across all required freight tasks. The role requires excellent communication with clients and across the business, building strong relationships that protect and grow Matic Group's position as a trusted and secure transport partner.
Key responsibilities
- Provide day‑to‑day leadership, direction and performance management to Operations Supervisors and depot‑based teams across the WA Tanker & Packaged Division
- Be contactable after hours (inclusive of weekends) to support MTA operations
- Undertake regular travel between WA sites, including regional/remote locations which may require overnight stays of 1 night or more
- Recruit, induct, coach and develop Supervisors and drivers in line with Matic Group's people and performance frameworks
- Set clear expectations, conduct regular performance conversations, and manage conduct or performance issues in conjunction with HR
- Manage subcontractor performance and relationships ensuring they are aware of Matic Group's requirements
- Foster a positive, safety‑first, respectful and accountable culture across the Tanker & Packaged Division
- Act as the primary point of contact for MTA clients on operational performance, service delivery and issue resolution across cement and lime freight tasks
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with MTA clients,
principal contractors and suppliers for the Division across all WA sites
- Negotiate and manage service delivery expectations, escalating commercial or contractual matters to the National Operations Manager - MTA as required

About you
We're looking for an experienced transport and logistics leader who can confidently operate at both the strategic and operational level.
You’ll ideally bring:
- Proven experience in a senior operations or transport management role
- Strong leadership experience across multiple teams, sites or operations
- Sound knowledge of heavy vehicle transport operations and Chain of Responsibility
- Experience managing operational performance, safety and compliance
- Strong commercial and customer relationship skills
- The ability to coach, challenge and develop people
- Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills
- A practical, solutions‑focused approach
- The ability to travel regularly between WA sites, including regional and remote locations
