About the Victorian Early Childhood Regulatory Authority (VECRA)
The VictorianEarly ChildhoodRegulatory Authority (VECRA) is the statutory authority responsible for regulating early childhood education and care services in Victoria. VECRA works to ensure the safety,wellbeingand development of children through effective regulation, compliance, qualityassessmentand continuous improvement across the early childhood sector.
VECRA plays a critical systemmanagementrole, providing guidance, oversight and assurance to the sector while supporting high-quality early childhood education outcomes for Victorian children and families.
About the Branch
The Governance and Corporate Support Branch lead the provision of quality corporate support services and functions (including human resources and occupation health and safety, risk and audit, finance, fleet, accommodation and organisational strategic projects) which enable successful operation of VECRA. In addition, the Governance and Corporate Support Branch is responsible for the oversight, delivery and reporting of the compliance and audit obligations required of a statutory authority.
About the Team
The Human Resources team, within the Governance and Corporate Branch, is a specialised team responsible for delivering VECRA's core people and workplace functions. This includes HR policy and processes, end-to-end recruitment support, employee wellbeing and safety, workforce and position data, performance reporting,
and the development and implementation of VECRA's Occupational Health and Safety framework.
The team works closely with leaders across VECRA and the Department of Education to provide practical advice, maintain strong HR governance and continuously improve how we support our people.
About the Role
The Manager HR role is key in shaping the people function of VECRA as a recent regulatory organisation. This role will lead a small team and partner with senior leaders to build strong HR foundations, provide trusted advice on novel and complex people and occupational health and safety matters and support VECRA to develop its workforce and culture.
This role provides an opportunity to make a tangible impact in a new and still evolving organisation, designing and improving how HR is delivered and introducing contemporary approaches that help shape the way VECRA supports its people.
As appropriate, you may also be required to provide support across VECRA as and when required, and to other high priority projects. Please see the ‘Role Purpose' section of the Position Description for specific roles responsibilities.
Attributes
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience: At least 5 years' experience in managing and leading a team of people
- Experience: At least 8 years' experience in HR roles that cover employee relations, workplace health and safety, HR policy and process development, capability development,
recruitment and/or case management.
- Qualifications: A degree or relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources or a similar field
- Essential: A valid Working with Children Check
