Laboratory Assistant - Specimen Reception

An opportunity has become available for an experienced Laboratory Assistant to work with our friendly and skilled team in Specimen Reception. We are seeking an energetic and proactive team member with proficient data entry skills to join us. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for receiving, sorting and processing samples. They will also sort and organise shipments of samples or facilitate samples to internal/external laboratories.

Facilitate samples to internal/external laboratories

Ensure that all WH&S; requirements are observed

About you

Degree or diploma with subjects relevant to pathology or laboratory operations awarded by a recognised Australian TAFE or RTO,



or equivalent experience

Proficient in a range of computer programs & databases with accurate data entry skills

Minimum 10,000 kph with high accuracy in data entry, with administration and data entry experience

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)

Mature attitude with sensitivity to the confidential nature of patient information

Strong sense of teamwork

A can-do and caring attitude

Ability to adapt quickly and cope with change

Previous experience in pathology and familiarity with medical terminology would be beneficial
