Location: Newcastle (3 days per week onsite, rest remote)
Salary: £30,000 + Bonus & Perks
Employment Type: Permanent

The Role

We are seeking a Payroll Advisor to join a busy Payroll Shared Services team, supporting end-to-end payroll processing across multiple regions. This is a varied role offering exposure to both in‑house and outsourced payroll operations, with responsibility for ensuring accurate and compliant payroll delivery while providing an excellent service to employees.

Key Responsibilities

- Process payroll activities for starters and leavers.
- Administer one‑off payments, season ticket loans and bicycle loans.
- Check and validate payroll changes, including flexible benefits.
- Upload and process tax‑related payroll information.
- Manage sickness absence and statutory absence processes.
- Support maternity, paternity and shared parental leave administration.
- Assist with payroll processing activities and payroll checks.
- Process payroll journals and related financial transactions.
- Perform account reconciliations and payroll auditing activities.
- Ensure compliance with payroll legislation and internal procedures.
- Undertake data cleansing and data quality activities.




- Manage third‑party payments and payroll queries.
- Deliver a high level of customer service to employees and stakeholders.

Key Skills Required

- Strong payroll processing experience.
- Good understanding of payroll legislation and payroll procedures.
- Experience working to high levels of accuracy and tight deadlines.
- Experience or awareness of Shared Service Centre environments.
- Ability to create, maintain and review payroll procedures.
- Experience identifying and implementing process improvements.
- Strong payroll reconciliation and reporting capabilities.
