About The Role

The Education, Employment & Transitional Services Directorate works towards assisting students to acquire, develop, practice and apply the knowledge, skills and attitudes now and in the future to take responsible control of their own lives.

This is a permanent, full time vacancy.

The Prisoner Education Coordinator works as a team member to provide a comprehensive education and vocational training service to prisoners. Responsibilities include curriculum development, teaching, assessing, staff development and industry liaison.

As part of the Education, Employment & Transitional Services team, the successful applicant will be expected to:

- Work to improve communication and model integrity and respect in all interactions
- Operate within the Department's Corporate Governance Framework, policies and procedures and ensure effective transparency and accountability of all Department activity
- Operate within the chain of command to coordinate activities required to meet the Department’s strategic objectives
- Work collaboratively to achieve common goals and best practice and facilitate business improvements as appropriate
- Facilitate cultural and management reforms within the Department through leadership and engagement

Suitability Requirements

Through the recruitment process, we will be looking for a candidate who can demonstrate skills, experience and attributes in relation to the following:

- Qualified Practice: demonstrated teaching experience including adult education with the ability to plan and coordinate a comprehensive education and vocational training program, relevant to the needs of clients.
- Ethical Behaviour:



the ability to make ethical decisions daily and exemplify personal integrity and self-awareness.
- Professional Knowledge: the ability to design and implement teaching strategies that are responsive to the learning needs of students from diverse linguistic, cultural (including Aboriginal students), religious, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Communication Skills: the ability to communicate effectively and develop positive working relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Organisational Skills: the ability to supervise, monitor, maintain, and develop learning and assessment resources including accurate management of client records.

Eligibility

- Tertiary qualification – including teaching or equivalent
- Certificate IV Training and Assessment (or completes within six months of employment)
