We're looking for a CA/CPA-qualified Financial Accountant to join our Finance team, reporting directly to the Head of Finance. This is a hands-on accounting position for someone with 3-5 years' experience in Audit or a Business Services firm (mid-tier or top-tier preferred). You'll own critical month-end processes and play a key role in our financial reporting function.
What You'll Do
- Lead month-end close and financial reporting. You'll drive the close cycle from start to finish, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements and management reporting.
- Manage journals, reconciliations, and balance sheet items. You'll record and reconcile journal entries, complete account reconciliations, and maintain the integrity of the general ledger.
- Own and maintain the Fixed Asset Register. You'll be responsible for the Fixed Asset Register, including additions, disposals, depreciation calculations, and year-end reconciliations.
- Oversee invoice processing and controls. You'll ensure invoices are processed efficiently, validated for accuracy, and recorded correctly in the accounting system. You'll also review and strengthen controls around this process.
- Support the Head of Finance. You'll work closely with the Head of Finance to support reporting requirements, identify process improvements,
and handle special projects as they arise.
Who You Are
- CA or CPA qualified. You hold a current or recent qualification from Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand or CPA Australia.
- 3-5 years' experience in Audit or a Chartered Firm. You've worked in a mid-tier or top-tier firm (Big 4 experience is a plus), gaining solid grounding in financial reporting, audit procedures, and accounting best practice.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge. You understand month-end close processes, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting standards. Fixed Asset accounting is a bonus.
- Detail-focused and organised. You thrive with deadlines, manage multiple tasks, and catch errors before they become problems. You take pride in accuracy.
- Keen to step up. You're ready to move from audit or firm life into an in-house finance role where you'll have more autonomy and impact.
- Reliable communicator. You explain accounting issues clearly to non-finance stakeholders and work well in a team.
Sydney CBD location. Convenient CBD base with a growing finance team offering adaptable working including 2 days from home.
