Position Details

Inclusion Support Teacher

Sacred Heart Primary School, Thornlie is seeking an Inclusion Support teacher to work in our Mary Ward Inclusion Support Centre to commence in 2027. The Mary Ward Inclusion Support Centre caters for students with disabilities. This is a full time ongoing position commencing 1 January 2027.

Sacred Heart Primary, Thornlie is a thriving double stream school that caters for approximately 450 students from Kindergarten to Year Six. The school is well resourced with a 2-year-old to 4-year-old day care onsite, OSHC onsite.

We have dedicated, professional staff who are a cohesive team of educators with a strong focus on our community and living the Loreto values established by our founding staff

members – the Loreto sisters 61 years ago. We have a strong focus on student and staff wellbeing and have a school wellbeing dog onsite.

Sacred Heart offers a variety of specialist classes including Health & Wellbeing, Dance, Music, Science, Auslan and Physical Education. We support and train all classroom teachers to successfully implement TalkforWriting and InitiaLit (K-2), Spellex (Y3-4) and PLD (5-6). We have a strong numeracy focus and support our staff with coaching and Curriculum support.

We are looking for a caring, calm, enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who is able to join our wonderful community.

Selection Criteria





- Practising Catholic who actively supports and promotes the mission, values, and ethos of Catholic Education.
- Demonstrates excellence in inclusive and differentiated teaching practices to support the diverse needs of all learners.
- Possesses comprehensive knowledge of diverse learning needs, the ABLE WA Curriculum, and the Western Australian Curriculum, with the capacity to design and deliver high-quality play-based learning experiences.
- Demonstrates exemplary behaviour support skills, implementing proactive strategies that promote student engagement, self-regulation, and wellbeing.
- Effectively integrates digital technologies to support communication and to create engaging, innovative, and contemporary learning environments.
- Establishes and maintains a calm, positive, safe, and well-managed classroom environment that fosters inclusion, engagement, and learning success.
- Builds and sustains positive professional partnerships with students, families, staff, and allied health professionals to support student growth and achievement.
- Develops, implements, and monitors individual learning plans in collaboration with families, staff, and external agencies to maximise student participation, inclusion, independence, achievement, and wellbeing.
- Knowledge of, and training in, Talk for Writing and InitiaLit programs is desirable.

Qualifications Required

- A recognised four-year tertiary teaching qualification
- Accreditation to Teach in a Catholic School (willingness to obtain)
- A current TRBWA and a Working with Children registration
