Our client is a well‑established national organisation within the access equipment and machinery hire industry is seeking an experienced Executive Business Development Manager to lead its South Australian sales division. This is a senior leadership role suited to a strategic, people‑focused sales skilled who thrives in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment.
About the role:
As the Executive Business Development Manager, you will spearhead the development and execution of strategic sales plans while overseeing the state's entire sales function. You will lead a motivated internal and external sales team, drive revenue growth, build key client relationships, and ensure sales initiatives align with overall business objectives.
This position is ideal for a high‑performing senior leader who enjoys influencing outcomes, building capability within teams, and delivering strong commercial results.
- Shape and drive the overall sales direction for the state, ensuring strong revenue growth and expansion into priority markets.
- Monitor industry activity, customer behaviour, and competitor movements to uncover new commercial opportunities.
- Establish clear targets for the sales function and maintain strong accountability across all team members.
- Lead and inspire both internal and external sales teams, ensuring they are well supported, coached, and continually developing.
- Build a positive, collaborative team culture that prioritises high performance and professional excellence.
- Maintain strong, lasting relationships with key customers and partners, ensuring a high level of trust and engagement.
- Identify emerging opportunities and future growth pathways that align with broader business goals.
- Ensure a steady pipeline of new business through proactive engagement, networking, and structured sales planning.
- Work closely with marketing on targeted campaigns that support lead generation and market reach.
- Track sales results,
analyse performance data, and present insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Provide accurate revenue forecasts and ensure business targets are consistently met.
- Review sales data to pinpoint performance issues, process improvements, and new strategic priorities.
- Collaborate with operations, marketing, product teams, and leadership to ensure sales activities align with organisational priorities.
- Offer strategic input into pricing, product innovation, and service improvements.
Skills and Experience:
- Tertiary qualification in Business, Marketing, Sales, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Extensive experience in leading sales teams, with several years operating at a senior or executive level - ideally within equipment hire, machinery sales, or capital equipment sectors.
- Demonstrated history of hitting and surpassing competitive sales targets.
- Strong leadership capability with experience coaching, mentoring, and developing high‑performing teams.
- Proven ability to influence others and drive results through relationship‑building and communication.
- Ability to design and support ongoing training and capability‑building initiatives across a sales department.
- Skilled at forming strong, productive relationships with stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally.
- Excellent communication abilities - written, verbal, and interpersonal - including conflict resolution and negotiation.
- High resilience, motivation, and determination to achieve stretch goals.
- Proficient with digital tools including CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and online communication platforms.
- Confident in preparing formal reports, presentations, and business documentation.
- Able to manage competing priorities and deliver effectively in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
- Passionate about delivering outstanding customer service and maintaining a positive client experience.
- Approaches work with energy, enthusiasm, and a strong team mindset.
