The Opportunity in a Nutshell
We are looking for a detail-oriented and organised Accounts Officer to join our Melbourne team on a 12-month fixed-term contract to cover a period of maternity leave.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join an established and collaborative Administrative and Business Support team, working alongside friendly and supportive professionals across the practice.
You’ll receive a comprehensive training and handover program to ensure a smooth transition into the role, with plenty of support as you get to know our systems, processes, projects, and people.
Working closely with our Finance and Operations teams, you’ll manage a range of day-to-day accounting and financial administration functions, including accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, project financial administration, invoicing, and financial reporting.
The opportunity would suit someone with 2+ years’ experience in accounting or bookkeeping who is confident working independently, managing multiple priorities, and maintaining a high level of accuracy in a fast-paced skilled services environment.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable & Receivable: Manage invoice processing, payment scheduling, project invoicing, supplier payments, debt collection, and employee expense reimbursements.
Reconciliations & Financial Administration: Process bank and credit card reconciliations, maintain accurate financial records, manage petty cash, and oversee staff timesheet entries.
Project & Financial Support: Support project financial administration, budget tracking, cash flow documentation, and monthly financial reporting.
Stakeholder & Compliance Support: Liaise with suppliers and contractors, manage the shared finance inbox,
and support GST, tax, audit, and financial control requirements.
Process & Continuous Improvement: Contribute to improving financial processes and systems, including supporting the practice’s Quality, Safety & Environmental Management System (IMS).
What You Bring
Strong attention to detail, numerical ability, and a methodical approach
Excellent organisation and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
A proactive, collaborative approach with the ability to work independently
High level of confidentiality, discretion, and reliability
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Experience and Skills
2+ years’ experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role
Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping or equivalent experience
Proficiency in Xero, Microsoft Excel, and Office Suite
Sound understanding of accounting principles, GST, tax compliance, and financial controls
Experience with financial data entry and reconciliations
Project accounting and skilled services experience preferred
