Role Overview

Located in Sydney, this is a fantastic opportunity to learn broking from the ground up,



to develop a long term and rewarding career on the FX Forwards Desk. The Fwds desk focuses on the fixing of exchange rates for a particular date in the future and is used to hedge foreign currency risk. As a trainee, you will have the opportunity to understand how the FWDS desk act as an intermediary facilitating Forward FX trades in the wholesale financial markets. This will include transacting daily trades between commercial and investment banks. Trainees will also learn how banks use FWD FX as a hedging and trading tool.

Role Responsibilities

- Promote Tullett Prebon as a company
- Provide complete support to the brokers for the smooth running of the desk
- Ensure timely input of trades into trading systems
- Resolve any trade queries received internally and externally, and ensure any trade discrepancies are resolved in a timely manner
- Keep trade records up to date.
- Update real-time manual / electronic whiteboards with market data
- Provide input on various projects for brokers and traders
- Provide live quotes through the link line to our internal regional offices
- Monitor markets and follow financial news and developments




- Understand the underlying products being traded and keep up to date with knowledge of new products/procedures
- Manage the on-boarding of new clients with the Client On-Boarding team

What to expect

In the first three months, you’ll develop an understanding of the requirements of the role and begin to support our senior brokers. You’ll be creating reports, using our company systems and providing updates from those systems to the senior brokers. You’ll be booking trades and sending confirmations.

Within six months, you’ll be assisting with inbound queries from existing clients, the onboarding of new clients along with attending client visits. You’ll be researching prospective customers and making outbound sales calls to prospective customers, analysing data and supporting the desk..

Beyond six month, who knows, with attention and enthusiasm, the sky is the limit.

Experience / Competences

You’ll have excellent communication skills, and proven ability to build rapport and develop relationships.

You’ll have superb attention to detail and be able to manage multiple tasks within strict timeframes.

You’ll be adept at working with and contributing to a team and a have a willingness to learn.

You will be ambitious in nature, hungry to succeed but not at the expense of your team’s success

You’ll always act with integrity and ethics.

Highly desirable would be experience in a sales roles or in a capacity that focuses on relationship building. A degree in economics, finance or commerce is welcome but not essential.
