Construction workers assist tradespeople on building and construction sites by doing a range of manual labouring jobs. Employment as a Construction Worker may be casual or full-time.

To be a construction workeryou need toenjoy outdoor, practical work and be physically fit. You also needto be able to work as part of a team and be able to follow precise directions. Construction workers are able to work at a constant pace.

Typical Duties
n
n
- unload, carry and stack building materials and place tools and equipment in position,
n
- dig trenches using hand tools or jackhammers to break up rock and concrete so that footings and services can be placed,
n
- mix, pour and spread concrete,
n
- help to erect and dismantle scaffolding (subject to certification in some states and territories), ramps, catwalks, barricades and warning lights,
n
- use wheelbarrows to remove rubble and rubbish from building sites,
n
- dismantle small structures and strip materials in preparation for current constructions, and
n
n
No additional training / on the job training 6 hours + < $500 4 hours + < $500
