About the Role

An opportunity exists for an experienced Accountant to join our Business Services team. This role offers a mix of compliance, advisory, and client-facing work, ideal for someone who wants to move beyond pure compliance into more strategic, value-added services. You will work closely with the Director and play a key role in managing client relationships and delivering high-quality outcomes.

Responsibilities

- Prepare financial statements, management reports and supporting workpapers for a portfolio of clients
- Maintain client accounting and reporting systems, ensuring information is accurate and compliant with relevant accounting standards
- Complete bank, balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations, investigating and resolving variances
- Support monthly and year-end close processes, including journals, accruals and reconciliations
- Review and reconcile revenue, receivables, payables and payroll balances
- Prepare budget and cash flow reporting, including comparison of actual results against forecasts
- Assist with inventory accounting, reconciliation and reporting where required

Tax, Compliance & Audit

- Prepare Income Tax Returns and Business Activity Statements (BAS)
- Monitor client compliance requirements and key reporting deadlines, including ATO and ASIC obligations
- Liaise with the ATO, ASIC and other third parties on behalf of clients
- Assist with client audits, including preparation of supporting schedules, reconciliations and responses to audit queries
- Support senior team members with tax planning,



structuring and other advisory matters

Client & Business Services

- Manage day-to-day accounting requirements across a portfolio of clients, balancing multiple priorities and deadlines
- Build strong client relationships and act as a day-to-day contact for accounting, payroll and reporting queries
- Liaise with client staff, suppliers, service providers and internal team members to resolve accounting and payment-related matters
- Attend client sites where required to assist with accounting systems, process reviews and more complex accounting work
- Provide practical guidance to client accounting personnel on accounting processes, controls and system usage
- Identify accounting, reporting and process improvement opportunities and raise these with senior team members
- Communicate progress, risks and outstanding requirements clearly to clients and the internal team

Team & Career development

- Work collaboratively with Accountants, Managers and Directors to deliver high-quality client outcomes
- Take increasing ownership of client engagements as your technical capability and experience develop
- Maintain a high standard of accuracy, organisation and client service
- Contribute to internal process improvements and the ongoing development of the Corporate and Business Services team

Qualifications

- 3+ years' experience in Business Services / Public Practice
- Sound knowledge of Australian tax and accounting principles
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
- A proactive approach and willingness to learn
- CA or CPA qualified, or currently working towards qualification, preferred
- Valid Australian work rights (no sponsorship required)

Systems

- Systems: Xero, XPM and all similar accounting software
- FYI Elite and Documents
- BGL & CAS for Corporate Secretarial
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Products (Word, Excel skills etc)
- Experience in using automations and workflow tools
