Customer Service Officer (Multiple Opportunities)

Location: Western Suburbs

Duration: ASAP – November 2026/ January 2027/ February 2027

Hours: 24 or 38 hours per week

Rate: $39.68 per hour + super

The Opportunity

We are looking for experienced Customer Service Officers to join our client, a local council in Melbourne’s western suburbs, across multiple temporary opportunities through to February 2027. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with the community, thrives in a busy customer-focused environment and is confident handling a high volume of enquiries across both face-to-face and telephone channels. You will be part of a supportive team, helping residents and customers access the information and services they need while delivering a high standard of customer service.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide friendly and professional customer service across Council’s customer service counter and contact centre.
- Manage a high volume of inbound enquiries while maintaining service standards and a strong focus on customer satisfaction.




- Respond to customer enquiries and resolve complaints where possible, or identify suitable options and solutions.
- Provide accurate information in line with Council policies, procedures and service standards.
- Process payments and provide cashiering services as required.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure customers receive the right information and support.

Key Criteria

- Substantial experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume inbound call or contact centre environment.
- Previous customer service experience, ideally within local government.
- A broad understanding of local government services and processes.
- Previous cashiering or payment processing experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to remain calm, skilled and solutions-focused when dealing with challenging customers.
- A genuine commitment to providing a positive customer experience.
