The role:

Join our team as a casual Hatchery Technician at our Proserpine Prawn Hatchery. You'll play a vital role in breeding and growing tiger prawns, ensuring the health and sustainability of our broodstocks and delivering high-quality post-larvae to our farms. This is a hands-on role that combines animal husbandry, technical skills, and a commitment to sustainability. Responsibilities:

- Prepare feed and perform daily feeding routines to support optimal prawn growth.
n
- Conduct routine health checks using microscopy and visual observation. Identify, diagnose, and elevate any health issues promptly.

- Sample and test water quality using meters and probes to maintain ideal conditions for prawn growth.
n
- Accurately document hatchery activities, including larval production and water quality data, using iPads and computers.
n
- Implement and maintain biosecurity measures to prevent disease outbreaks, including disinfection and cleaning of tanks and equipment.
n




- Monitor prawn health and behaviour, escalating any concerns to ensure timely resolution.

Role requirements:

- Aquaculture or agriculture experience is highly desirable but not essential. Full training will be provided.
n
- This is a physically demanding role. Successful applicants will need to pass a health and fitness test prior to starting.
n
- Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and a passion for sustainable aquaculture.
n
- A proactive, team-oriented mindset with a willingness to learn and adapt.
n
