Opportunity
n
Federation Council is seeking a motivated Landfill Officer to join our Engineering Services department. As a Landfill Officer you will serve the community by managing essential waste infrastructure, ensuring facilities operate smoothly, safely, and in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
- Opening and closing facilities, collecting tipping fees and recording waste quantities in Council systems.
n
- Inspecting incoming waste to prevent hazardous materials and ensuring all waste is disposed of in the correct locations.
n
- Operating Council plant to manage construction, demolition, and general waste cells, and compacting scrap metal and green waste.
n
- Conducting quarterly groundwater monitoring, perimeter reviews for feral pigs, and general clean‐ups to maintain site safety.
n
- Managing invoicing records, submitting finance requests and adhering to data capture procedures.
n

Essential Key Criteria
n
n
- A current and valid Heavy Rigid (HR) driver's licence and a General Construction Induction Certificate (White Card).
n
- Possession of (or ability to obtain within 3 months) a First Aid Certificate, Remove Non‐Friable Asbestos Certificate, AQF3 Chemical Accreditation, and a drumMUSTER Inspector Ticket.
n
- Proven experience in cash handling, receipting, and reconciliation.
n
- Strong customer service and conflict‐resolution skills, with the ability to communicate courteously with the general public.
n
- Solid understanding of WHS practices and, ideally, experience in the waste industry.
n

Desirable Extras
n
n
- Heavy Combination (HC) licence.
n
- Competency certificates for Skidsteer, loaders, hook lifts, forklifts or excavators.
n
n

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Council's policies and conditions of employment. The starting salary is $31.89 per hour, progressing to $35.20 per hour depending on skills and experience.
