About the role
n
Are you an experienced journalist or newsroom producer looking to take the next step in your career?
n
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced State News Editor to join our team.
n
Reporting to the State News Director, the State News Editor will play a key role in the leadership and daily operation of the WIN Television newsroom. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to help deliver a high-quality and competitive regional news bulletin.
n
Key responsibilities will include:
n
n
- Preparing and maintaining daily news rundowns.
n
- Sub-editing reporter scripts and ensuring stories meet editorial and broadcast standards.
n
- Fact-checking news content and bulletins prior to broadcast.
n
- Providing editorial guidance and support to Journalists and Camera Operators in the field.
n
- Assisting with the coordination of the newsroom and daily news production.
n
- Working collaboratively with the State News Director, Presenters, Journalists and Camera Operators to achieve editorial outcomes and deadlines.
n
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders as required to support the delivery of the News product.
n
n
This is a full-time, Monday to Friday position and can be based at any of our WIN Queensland News Bureaus.
n
About you
n
To be successful in this role, you will have:
n
n
- A well-rounded knowledge and understanding of regional news.
n
- At least three years' experience working in a television newsroom, preferably in a producing or editing capacity.
n
- Strong editorial judgement and an ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
n
- Demonstrated ability to lead, support and provide constructive advice to newsroom staff.
n
- A strong understanding of Queensland media law and its application to television news.
n
- Excellent communication, relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
n
- Exceptional attention to detail, particularly in relation to accuracy, fact-checking and editorial standards.
n
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
n
- Strong writing and editing skills.
n
