About the role

As the Social Work Team Leader - Surgery and Intensive Care Unit (ICU), you will lead a dedicated team of social workers delivering specialist services across surgical wards, the ICU, Burns Unit and other complex clinical areas at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital (RBWH). This is a unique opportunity to combine advanced clinical practice with strategic leadership in one of Queensland's largest tertiary hospitals. You will provide operational and professional leadership to a team of eight social workers while maintaining a complex clinical caseload, supporting patients and families through some of the most challenging and critical healthcare experiences.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

- Use evidence-based practice and knowledge of relevant legislation to apply knowledge and skills that facilitate novel and/or critical decisions in a complex clinical caseload.
- Provide a lead role for Social Work practice issues based on advanced clinical knowledge, skills and current best practice models of care in the management and delivery of the specialist Social Work service.
- Provide advice to Director Social Work and other senior management, colleagues and relevant internal and external stakeholders regarding complex professional standards, clinical cases, legislation and/or and clinical service development.




- Collaboratively engage with relevant stakeholders across RBWH and Metro North to achieve effective service delivery and quality outcomes utilising advanced management skills including conflict resolution and negotiation.
- Provide high level management and professional management and leadership to the emergency and trauma centre social work team and co-ordinate/manage projects in the relevant service area as needed across RBWH to enable team members to optimise their skills and abilities to deliver quality practice outcomes while complying with Metro North and state-wide strategic directions to ensure patient focused service delivery.
