An established South Australian transport and logistics business is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to take responsibility for its end-to-end operational function across interstate linehaul, metropolitan transport, fleet/workshop and warehousing.
This is a senior, hands-on leadership position within a well-established transport operation. You will have responsibility for ensuring people, fleet and facilities work together effectively while maintaining high standards across safety, service, compliance, productivity and cost control.
The Role Reporting into senior management, you will have broad responsibility for the day-to-day performance of the operation and provide leadership across multiple operational functions.
Key responsibilities will include:

- Lead the overall transport and logistics operation across linehaul, metro distribution, workshop/fleet and warehousing
- Oversee interstate linehaul planning, scheduling, fleet utilisation and service performance
- Manage metropolitan transport operations, ensuring effective allocation of drivers and equipment
- Provide leadership and direction to operational supervisors, allocators, drivers, warehouse and workshop teams
- Work closely with the workshop to maximise fleet availability, manage preventative maintenance and minimise downtime
- Oversee warehouse and distribution operations, ensuring productive receipt, storage, handling and despatch of freight
- Monitor operational performance, productivity, labour utilisation and costs
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, fleet utilisation and overall operational efficiency
- Maintain strong standards across Chain of Responsibility, fatigue management, NHVR requirements, WHS and transport compliance




- Manage operational issues and escalations while maintaining customer service levels
- Work closely with customers and internal stakeholders to ensure service expectations are consistently achieved
- Develop a strong, accountable operational culture with a focus on safety, communication and continuous improvement

About You We are looking for an experienced transport leader who understands the realities of running a busy road transport operation.
You will ideally bring:

- Significant experience within road transport, freight or logistics operations
- Previous experience as an Operations Manager, Transport Manager, State Manager or similar senior operational leader
- Strong knowledge of interstate linehaul and metropolitan transport operations
- Experience managing drivers, allocators, supervisors and broader operational teams
- Good understanding of fleet maintenance and the relationship between operations and workshop performance
- Exposure to warehousing and distribution operations
- Strong knowledge of Chain of Responsibility, fatigue management, NHVR and heavy vehicle compliance
- Commercial awareness with the ability to understand operational costs, productivity and fleet utilisation
- A practical, hands-on leadership style and willingness to get involved when operational challenges arise




- Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships across drivers, customers, workshop personnel and senior management

Experience across both linehaul and metro transport will be particularly highly regarded.
