About the role

You will take day-to-day ownership of residential renovation projects while remaining hands-on with the team. You will typically lead a team of approximately 3–5 people across residential renovations, extensions and structural alteration projects throughout Melbourne. This role requires you to arrive on site, review the plans, understand what needs to happen, organise the team and trades, identify potential problems and keep the project moving without needing constant supervision.

Key responsibilities

- Leading and working alongside a team of carpenters, apprentices and labourers
- Managing day-to-day activities on residential renovation sites
- Reading and interpreting architectural and structural drawings
- Planning and allocating daily work to the site team
- Undertaking high-quality hands-on carpentry
- Coordinating subcontractors and other trades
- Planning materials and identifying requirements ahead of time
- Monitoring workmanship and maintaining quality standards
- Identifying construction issues, drawing discrepancies and potential variations early
- Keeping projects organised and progressing according to programme

About you

- Certificate III in Carpentry or equivalent trade qualification
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a qualified carpenter
- Strong residential renovation and extension experience
- Previous experience as a Senior Carpenter, Leading Hand,



Foreman or similar
- Proven ability to lead approximately 3–5 people
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong ability to read architectural and structural drawings
- Sound knowledge of residential construction sequencing
- Strong hands-on carpentry capability
- Good practical problem-solving skills
