About the role

RenewCo Solar is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Apprentice Electrician (3rd/4th Year) - Solar to join our growing team in Sydney. This is a full-time position based in Sydney Metro Area. As an advanced apprentice, you'll be transitioning from foundational training to more complex electrical and solar installation work. This role is strategically key to our business as we expand our solar energy solutions and continue to lead the renewable energy sector. You'll work alongside experienced electricians and supervisors, gaining hands-on experience in residential and commercial solar installations whilst progressing towards your qualified electrician status.

Key responsibilities

- Assisting in the installation, testing and commissioning of solar photovoltaic systems on residential and commercial properties

- Performing electrical wiring, conduit installation and cable management for solar energy systems

- Conducting safety checks and testing on completed solar installations using appropriate equipment and procedures

- Reading and interpreting electrical schematics, technical drawings and solar system designs

- Safely operating hand tools, power tools and specialised solar installation equipment

- Adhering to all workplace health and safety regulations, standards and company procedures

- Maintaining accurate records of work completed and materials used

- Supporting the installation team to ensure projects are completed on time and to specification

- Completing on-the-job training requirements and progressing through your electrical apprenticeship

- Assisting with site preparation, cleanup and tool maintenance

What we're looking for





- Currently enrolled in or actively progressing through the 3rd or 4th year of an electrical apprenticeship recognised by NSW Fair Work requirements

- Sound understanding of fundamental electrical principles and safe working practices acquired through your apprenticeship training

- Familiarity with solar photovoltaic systems and renewable energy technologies (or willingness to develop this knowledge)

- Competency in reading and interpreting electrical drawings and technical documentation

- Strong practical skills with hand and power tools relevant to electrical and solar installation work

- A valid driver's licence and reliable access to transport (desirable for travel to various job sites)

- Current First Aid certification or willingness to obtain it

- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail in electrical work

- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team

- A genuine commitment to workplace health and safety, including adherence to all relevant electrical safety standards and regulations

- Physical fitness and ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions
