About the role
We are a private family seeking a reliable, warm in-home carer to support an elderly family member in our own home while we are at work. This is a direct engagement with us as your employer — not an agency placement — and you would be the sole carer present during rostered hours. Hours are Monday to Friday, 9:30 am to 6:00 pm, with a one-hour unpaid meal break (37.5 hours per week). Our family member is comfortably independent for periods during the day, so the role includes natural quiet time. Part time options and/or a live-in arrangement with separate private accommodation is available and can be discussed — this is optional and is a separate arrangement to your wages.
Key responsibilities
- Companionship, conversation and general supervision throughout the day
- Assistance with personal care,
mobility and medication prompting
- Preparing meals and light household duties
- Accompanying the elderly to appointments (if applicable)
- Keeping us informed of any changes in well-being
About you
- Genuine care, patience and good judgement — lived or family caring experience is valued and formal qualifications are not essential
- Reliability and discretion in a private home
- Good spoken and written English
- Current driver's licence (preferred)
- Willingness to obtain a National Police Check and First Aid/CPR certificate (we will meet the cost)
- Unrestricted Australian work rights
