About the role

Talkcargo is seeking a Freight Operations Specialist to join our dynamic team on a full-time basis in Maroochydore, QLD. This role is central to our aviation freight and cargo forwarding operations, ensuring the smooth coordination and management of shipments from origin to destination. As a Freight Operations Specialist, you will be instrumental in maintaining operational excellence, optimising logistics processes, and delivering exceptional service to our clients. This position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and problem-solving skills are highly valued.

What you'll be doing

- Coordinate and manage freight shipments through all stages of the forwarding process, ensuring timely pickup and delivery

- Prepare and process shipping documentation, including air waybills, bills of lading, invoices, customs declarations and other required paperwork

- Liaise with carriers, shipping lines, customs brokers and other logistics partners to arrange transport and resolve operational issues

- Track and monitor shipment progress, providing clients with regular updates on delivery status and shipment locations

- Manage freight bookings and capacity planning across various transport modes (air, sea, road and rail)

- Resolve logistical challenges and exceptions, including damaged shipments, delays and documentation discrepancies

- Maintain accurate records and databases of shipments, ensuring compliance with company procedures and industry regulations

- Communicate with clients to confirm requirements,



address concerns and ensure satisfaction with services delivered

- Ensure all operations comply with customs regulations, health and safety requirements and international shipping standards

What we're looking for

- 2+ years' experience in freight forwarding and cargo operations.

- Robust knowledge of international shipping procedures, documentation and customs regulations

- Experience in freight forwarding software systems (Cargowise) and Microsoft Office applications

- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple shipments simultaneously

- Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.

- Attention to detail and accuracy in processing documentation and data entry

- Problem-solving ability and resilience when managing unexpected operational challenges

- Knowledge of different transport modes (air freight, sea freight and road) and their operational requirements

- Familiarity with customs procedures and import/export regulations is highly desirable

- A proactive approach to continuous improvement and process optimisation

- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
