Position Overview

The Child & Youth Support Officer plays a vital role in promoting the welfare of vulnerable children and young people by supporting their educational and developmental needs. Working under the guidance of the Family Care Service Coordinator, this position involves delivering a range of responsive support services, contributing to Family Action Plans, and ensuring the overall wellbeing of participants.





You will also be responsible for reporting on performance indicators and facilitating continuous quality improvement processes.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual with a genuine passion for making a difference in the lives of children and families. The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:

- Certificate III in Community Services or equivalent, or a willingness to obtain.
- Minimum one year of experience working with children and young people.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with families.
- Understanding of the social determinants of health and wellbeing impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, particularly in relation to family support and education.
- QLD Drivers Licence, Working with Children Blue Card, Current Federal Police Check (within the last 4 weeks) or ability to obtain prior to commencement.

As a Child & Youth Support Officer, you will demonstrate flexibility, commitment to professional development, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Demonstrated understanding of trauma-informed care principles and practices.

Experience in developing and implementing culturally safe educational and developmental support programs for children and young people.
