About your new role

The APS6 Policy Officers is responsible for undertaking complex policy analysis, development, and implementation to drive strategic reform, manage sensitive issues, and improve program outcomes. Working under limited guidance within established governance frameworks, the role involves using data and technical inputs to evaluate challenges and make evidence-based recommendations. Additionally, the position is accountable for preparing high-quality policy papers, reports, briefings, and corporate documentation for executive review, while actively building cooperative relationships and leading engagement activities with key internal and external stakeholders.

What you will need to exceed
Proven background in developing, implementing, and reviewing strategic policy, reform projects, and programs.




Demonstrated capability to analyze complex data and technical inputs to evaluate issues and form sound, evidence-based recommendations
Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships, collaborate across teams, and lead engagement activities with internal and external stakeholders.
Practical experience preparing and reviewing transparent policy papers, briefings, reports, presentations, and corporate correspondence for government or leadership audiences.
Experience navigating legislation, strategic commissioning, and compliance frameworks like Commonwealth procurement rules.
Solid decision-making skills and good judgment to progress work independently under limited direction within established governance arrangements.

Desirable
A relevant Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in lieu of formal qualifications.
