An ASX listed company with a large scale gold project in Western Australia is building the commercial function it will need to take that project through financing, construction and into production. This is a newly created role reporting to the CFO, with genuine ownership of the commercial and project finance workstreams over the next two to three years.
The role
You will sit at the centre of the development. That means owning the life of mine and funding models, supporting the definitive feasibility study and its updates, and working alongside the independent technical experts through lender due diligence. You will help prepare and present to financiers on the project debt, run the commercial side of major contracts and tenders as the build ramps up, and then design the operational reporting and cost systems that the mine will run on once it is producing.
There is very little in place today. You will be building from a clean sheet, which is the attraction for the right person and the wrong job for anyone who needs an established finance function around them.
About you
Chartered Accountant or CPA with a solid career in mining
Have taken at least one project from development or construction into production
Hands on with LOM, funding and project finance models
Experience with lender technical reviews and debt due diligence
Comfortable running major tenders and contracts, ideally above $50 million
Have set up operational reporting and cost control in a recent operation
Operational or site exposure is a robust advantage
You are commercially sharp, practical, and able to work directly with a small executive team and board without a lot of structure beneath you. You know what a developer needs commercially in each phase and can get ahead of it.
