Southcott is seeking a reliable, mechanically minded Trades Assistant to join our Emerald workshop. No hose or hydraulics experience is required—we’ll provide the training you need.
Monday-to-Friday day shift
Permanent, stable employment
Hands-on training provided
Local Emerald role—no FIFO or extended rosters

About the role You’ll support our workshop team with the manufacture and preparation of hydraulic hose assemblies, customer orders and general workshop activities.

This is a outstanding opportunity for someone who enjoys practical work, takes pride in doing things properly and wants to develop a career in the hydraulics industry.

What you’ll do
Learn to manufacture hydraulic hose assemblies
Measure, cut and prepare hoses and components
Operate workshop equipment following training
Pick, pack and prepare customer orders
Assist customers at the trade counter
Receive and organise stock
Complete basic job documentation and data entry
Keep the workshop clean, organised and safe
Assist qualified team members with workshop tasks

What we’re looking for You don’t need hose or hydraulics experience. We’re looking for someone with:




A practical, hands-on approach
Mechanical aptitude and confidence using basic hand tools
A strong work ethic and willingness to learn
Good attention to detail
Basic maths and computer skills
Clear communication and a helpful attitude
A commitment to working safely
A current driver’s licence

Previous experience in a workshop, warehouse, manufacturing, mechanical or trade setting would be helpful but is not essential. A forklift or MR truck licence would also be an advantage but is not required.
