We are recruiting a Senior Secondary Design Engineer based in Sydney for our client, who operate in the transmission & distribution industry.

Reporting into the engineering leadership team, this role suits someone with substantial hands-on design experience who can confidently lead technical work packages from concept through to construction. It offers exposure to a variety of projects, the chance to mentor junior engineers, and involvement in shaping design standards and processes across the organisation.

Responsibilities
Lead and deliver secondary systems design packages, including protection, control, SCADA, and communications design
Prepare and review schematics, wiring diagrams, logic diagrams, and technical specifications in accordance with relevant standards and codes
Provide technical oversight and quality assurance for design outputs produced by design teams and external consultants
Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and internal project teams to understand design requirements and constraints
Conduct site assessments and inspections to inform and validate design solutions




Support tendering and estimating processes through the development of scope, cost estimates, and technical input
Coordinate with primary plant, civil, structural, and other disciplines to ensure integrated design outcomes
Ensure designs comply with applicable regulatory, safety, and environmental requirements
Mentor and provide technical guidance to graduate and junior engineers

Experience
Extensive experience in secondary systems design within the utilities, infrastructure, or industrial sector
Demonstrated experience leading design packages on medium to large-scale projects
Solid working knowledge of relevant industry standards, codes, and regulatory frameworks
Proven ability to manage competing priorities across multiple concurrent projects
Experience liaising directly with clients and external stakeholders

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
