About the role

MMC (Melbourne Metropolitan College) is seeking a reliable, organised and detail-oriented Accountant / Accounts Officer to support the day-to-day financial operations of the college. This is a hands-on part time position primarily responsible for Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Payroll, while also assisting management with general accounting, reconciliations and financial administration. The successful candidate will be comfortable managing multiple transactions, following up outstanding accounts, processing supplier payments and ensuring payroll is completed accurately and on time.

Key responsibilities
Prepare and issue customer and student invoices
Maintain accurate accounts receivable records
Monitor outstanding invoices and account balances
Follow up overdue accounts professionally and promptly
Allocate payments against invoices
Receive, review and process supplier invoices
Match invoices with purchase orders, approvals and supporting documentation where applicable
Prepare supplier payments for management approval




Process payroll accurately and on time
Calculate and maintain records relating to superannuation

About you
Previous experience in accounting, bookkeeping or an Accounts Officer role
Strong experience with Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
Practical experience processing Australian payroll
Understanding of PAYG, superannuation, GST and BAS requirements
Experience using accounting software such as Xero, MYOB or similar systems
Valuable Microsoft Excel skills
Strong numerical and analytical skills
High attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling financial, employee and student information
Solid written and verbal communication skills
