Grain Sampler — Harvest 2026/27
No grain experience needed. Training provided. Demeter Grains is a well established Western Australian grain export and trading company. This harvest we're opening three current bunker storage sites across the Excellent Southern and Wheatbelt, and we're building the crews to run them.
We're looking for Grain Samplers to join us for the 2026/27 harvest at Albany, Gnowangerup and Newdegate.
About the role
You'll be the first point of contact for every load that comes through the gate. Working alongside the site Leading Hand, you'll sample and grade incoming grain, run the weighbridge, and make the calls what goes into which stack. It's a job where accuracy matters and where you'll deal with growers face to face every day.
When the sample hut is quiet, you'll head outside and work with the yard crew. Most of our samplers tell us the variety is the best part of the job.
What you'll be doing
Weighbridge operations
Spearing and sampling incoming grain trucks
Analysing samples and identifying grain defects and weed seeds
Record keeping and data entry
Talking with growers about quality and resolving issues at the gate.
Keeping the lab and sampling areas clean and tidy
Helping the yard crew with stack and site work when sampling is quiet
What we're looking for
A positive eye for detail — this is the core of the job
Confidence Communicating with growers and carriers.
Reliability, and the ability to hold your standards when it's busy
Comfortable with basic computer work and data entry
Willingness to learn and to pitch in outside the lab
Current driver's licence
Previous grain farming or sampling experience is an advantage but is genuinely not required — we train you on site
The details
Season runs approximately; 2nd Half of October 2026 to end of January 2027

$33–$45 per hour, plus overtime through the peak
