Location & SalaryFootscray or Dandenong location, flexible work from home / officeSalary circa $100k + superApplications close 20 September ****About the TeamWe protect the financial and legal interests of thousands of Victorians who are unable to manage their own affairs because of mental illness, injury or disability.
Meeting the needs of these clients is the single focus of our Financial Administration team.About the RoleAs a Senior Consultant, Legal Support, you'll manage a portfolio of represented persons appointed to State Trustees by the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT).
This is a specialist role managing complex, legal and highly sensitive matters where there may be significant financial, family or legal implications.
Matters can include alleged financial elder abuse, compensation claims, family law matters, property disputes, extensive shareholdings, businesses and complex estates.
You'll use your financial expertise, sound judgement and stakeholder skills to identify issues, protect clients' interests and progress matters to resolution.Daily TasksManage legal and complex client circumstances and / or requirements, in situations complicated by client disability and family conflict.Identify the legal rights of clients and initiate legal proceedings where necessary ensuring the clients best interests are upheld.Complete complex and extensive reconciliations of bank accounts / other financial assets.Management of complex financial affairs.Make applications to VCAT pursuant to EPOA Act and Guardianship and Administration Act **** for compensation independent of legal assistance.Skills and ExperienceExtensive experience in the legal industry or disability sector.Ability to prepare commercial standard correspondence, reports and recommendationsUnderstanding and experience dealing with clients with a disabilityPassionate about making a difference to the lives of Victoria's most vulnerable peopleExcellent stakeholder engagement and professional communication skillsExperience in mentoring othersCompetent use of Microsoft Office and business systemsIntermediate financial analysis skillsEvery client has an individual set of circumstances so no file or day is ever the same!
