Your opportunity
As a Wellbeing Support Worker, you'll support residents through their recovery journey by facilitating daily activities, promoting wellbeing, encouraging independence and helping create a safe, positive and recovery-focused environment.
Join the team at Djindigal (Healing Place), Mission Australia's residential Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) rehabilitation service located near Mareeba.
Djindigal provides a safe and supportive setting where adults can address substance use concerns, build life skills and continue their recovery journey.
Working as part of a small and dedicated team, you'll play an important role in creating a positive, recovery-focused environment where people feel supported, respected and empowered to achieve their goals.
Your key responsibilities
Support residents through daily wellbeing, recreational and life skills activities.
Facilitate group activities and encourage engagement in therapeutic and recovery-focused programs.
Provide practical support, coaching and encouragement to help residents achieve their recovery goals.
Respond to challenging situations using trauma-informed practice, effective communication and de-escalation skills.
Build positive, professional relationships with residents while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
Help maintain a safe, welcoming and supportive residential environment that promotes recovery and wellbeing.
Requirements for success
Experience supporting people affected by Alcohol and Other Drug use is essential.
Demonstrated skills in de-escalation, conflict resolution and supporting people experiencing complex behaviours.
Strong understanding of person-centred, trauma-informed and recovery-oriented practice.
Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement and build positive therapeutic relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
Current First Aid and CPR Certificate, or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
Current Driver's Licence with no restrictions.
Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
