Where you'll be working Located at Westmead Hospital, the Medical Oncology Clinical Trials Unit (MOCTU) is one of Australia's largest medical oncology clinical trial units.

You'll work alongside investigators, clinical research professionals, sponsors, contract research organisations (CROs) and hospital finance teams across a diverse portfolio of Phase I-IV oncology treatment trials, including early-phase and first-in-human studies.

What you'll be doing
As Finance Officer, you'll provide end-to-end financial support across the clinical trial lifecycle.
Your financial expertise will help ensure studies are financially viable, accurately managed and compliant,



while enabling the research team to focus on delivering high-quality clinical trials.
Build and monitor clinical trial budgets, reviewing protocols, schedules of assessments and agreements to identify costs and billable activities.
Manage trial revenue and invoicing through the Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS), including milestone-based billing, receivables and reconciliations.
Oversee research funding accounts, monitoring income and expenditure, processing transactions and maintaining accurate, audit-ready records.
Analyse financial performance, preparing reports, forecasts and insights that support operational planning and decision‐making.
Partner with key stakeholders to resolve financial queries, improve processes and maintain compliance with NSW Health, contractual, governance and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) requirements.

Qualifications
Relevant qualifications in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Business or a related discipline, and/or demonstrated experience in financial management.
Demonstrated experience in financial administration, budgeting, invoicing, accounts reconciliation, accounts receivable management and financial reporting.
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to analyse financial data, prepare reports and maintain complex spreadsheets.




Demonstrated experience using Oracle Financials (or equivalent enterprise financial management system) and the ability to quickly learn new financial and business systems.
Demonstrated organisational, administrative, and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a high-volume environment.
Sound knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including accrual accounting, account reconciliations, general ledger journals, and relevant taxation requirements.
Proven ability to work independently, exercise initiative, and contribute effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
Highly developed interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
