About VPIC
VPIC provides health professionals and members of the public with risk assessment and management advicein the event ofa poisoning or suspected poisoning including accidental or intentional exposures, deliberate self-poisonings, workplace exposures, toxichazardsand envenomation.
VPIC aims to reduce unnecessary visits to general practitioners and hospitals and decrease ambulancecall-outs, ensuring patients who may be poisoned or envenomed receive the mostappropriate treatmentpossible.
About the role
A Specialist in Poisons Information (SPI)provides health professionals and members of thepublicwith risk assessment and management advicein the event ofa poisoning or suspected poisoning including accidental or intentional exposures, deliberate self-poisonings, workplace exposures, toxichazardsand envenomation.
The role requires the promptrisk assessment,provision of information and management adviceandmaintenanceofaccuraterecords foranalysis and research.
VPIC is a 7 day per week service, providing coverage alongside the other PoisonsCentresaround Australia to contribute to a 24-hour, 7-day per week service.Youarerequired toparticipatein the VPIC clinical rosterwhichwill include shift work on a 7-day roster, including overnight shifts, evening shifts (includingmidnight finish)and weekends.
About you
You will be someone who has excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to excellence in patient care.
You'll bring energy and drive to your work and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.
To be successful in this role you'll bring with you:
A minimum of 2 years' experience post registration in a hospital or community pharmacy role




Well-developed written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
A positive attitude, initiative and innovation.
A willingness and flexibility to contribute to an extended service roster and provide support to the team as required.
