Achieve Something Great
As a Registered Nurse in Anaesthetics and Recovery, you will play a key role in delivering safe, high-quality perioperative care and supporting patients throughout their surgical journey.
Preoperative Care
Conduct comprehensive preoperative assessments, including patient history, allergies, fasting status, and baseline observations, ensuring readiness for anaesthesia and surgery.
Provide patient-centred education, reassurance, and emotional support to reduce anxiety and promote understanding of the perioperative journey.
Prepare the anaesthetic environment by checking equipment, monitoring devices, medications, and emergency resources, ensuring compliance with safety standards and clinical protocols.
Intraoperative Care
Assist the anaesthetist throughout procedures by preparing and managing airway equipment, monitoring devices, intravenous access, and anaesthetic medications.
Continuously monitor and document the patient's physiological status, recognising and responding promptly to changes in condition to support patient safety.
Participate effectively in the management of perioperative emergencies, including airway compromise, haemodynamic instability, anaphylaxis, and cardiac arrest, while maintaining clear communication and teamwork.
Deliver high-quality care in the Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU), conducting ongoing assessments of airway, breathing, circulation,



level of consciousness, pain, and postoperative recovery.
Administer and evaluate pain relief, antiemetics, and other prescribed therapies, monitoring for complications and escalating concerns as appropriate.
Facilitate safe patient transfer and discharge from recovery through comprehensive clinical handover, accurate documentation, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care.

To be successful in this role, you will bring a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care, strong clinical knowledge, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Current nursing registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).
Demonstrated commitment to person centred care and NSW Health Core Values.
Evidence of computer literacy and understanding of relevant health related information systems.
