About the role
Join the Hospital Acute Intervention Service as a Consultation Liaison (CL) Nurse and play a key role in improving the mental health care and outcomes of patients across Barwon Health's generalist hospital settings.
As a CL Nurse, you will provide expert mental health assessment and intervention to patients and their families, while working closely with generalist clinical teams to develop person-centred plans of care.
You will provide specialist advice, education and support to build the confidence and capability of staff to recognise and respond to the mental health needs of patients.
You will also act as a trusted mental health resource across Barwon Health, contributing to mental health education, projects and policy development while promoting best-practice care.
A key part of the role is building strong connections between generalist and mental health services across hospital, community, public and private settings.
This is an opportunity to use your clinical expertise, leadership and collaborative skills to strengthen the integration of mental health care across a busy acute hospital environment and make a real difference to patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver expert clinical care through recovery-oriented mental health and AOD assessment, risk assessment, brief interventions, care planning and appropriate referrals for patients and families
Provide clinical leadership and collaboration, supporting generalist staff through education, role modelling and guidance, while contributing to effective handover, clinical communication, audits and service development
Drive professional and service excellence through ongoing professional development, supervision, high-quality documentation and active participation in quality improvement, policy development and practice reviews
What we're looking for
Postgraduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing and current AHPRA registration
Significant experience and demonstrated advanced skills in mental health and AOD assessment and treatment
Postgraduate qualifications in clinical practice and/or leadership are desirable
