The role We are seeking a passionate, innovative and experienced leader or the position of Head of Dance and Choreography to lead the development and growth of dance and movement at St Michael's as a key member of the Performing Arts Leadership Team.
This exciting opportunity is a full-time, three-year tenure commencing in Term 1, ****.
Play a pivotal role in shaping a strong and vibrant K-12 dance and movement culture, leading the School's curricular and co-curricular dance journey while providing artistic leadership across choreography, performance and major Performing Arts productions.
The role will foster opportunities for students of all levels of experience to develop physical awareness, confidence, creativity and artistic expression, while building pathways that connect dance learning with performance, future study and the broader creative industries.
Working collaboratively with dance staff, Performing Arts colleagues, resident and external artists, you will provide strategic and artistic leadership that balances excellence and entry, strengthens internal capability and responds to contemporary dance practice, student interests and emerging opportunities.
You will demonstrate Specialist qualifications and experience in dance, with demonstrated expertise in dance education, choreography and performance.




Current registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
A strong body of high-quality dance and/or choreographic work across school and/or qualified arts settings.
Demonstrated experience leading and developing a successful dance program, including curricular and co-curricular opportunities.
Demonstrated success in leading, mentoring and developing others and building a cohesive, collaborative and accountable team.
A broad and adaptable dance practice, with experience across contemporary dance, choreography, musical theatre and performance, alongside an understanding of classical Dance.
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement progressive learning and performance opportunities that support both artistic excellence and broad student participation.
A creative, strategic and big-picture thinker who can translate a vision for dance and movement into meaningful, relevant and sustainable action.
Demonstrated ability to lead choreography and movement across Performing Arts productions and to collaborate effectively with directors, musicians, performers, designers and technical teams.
Strong planning, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage complex programs, projects, productions and events.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, families and external practitioners.
A willingness and availability to work evenings and weekends when required for rehearsals, performances,



competitions and Performing Arts events.
A willingness to contribute to all aspects of the School's Performing Arts program and to work collaboratively as a member of a dynamic and creative team.
Demonstrated commitment to student wellbeing, inclusion, participation and the development of confidence, creativity and connectedness through Dance and Movement.
Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the School's child safety expectations, principles and policies.
Current First Aid and Anaphylaxis certification is essential.
