: The Policy & Objection business unit with the ACT Revenue Office are seeking Senior Objections Officers.
The Policy and Objections section has a dual function.
The section provides corporate governance and policy advice, strategic planning, and maintains all legislation relating to ACT taxes.
The section is also responsible for the independent review of objection matters (the internal review of tax assessments) and has carriage of associated appeals processes before the ACT Civil and Administrative Tribunal and the Supreme Court (with the assistance of an ACT Government Solicitor and Counsel).
In addition, the section supports the ACT Revenue Office's Information Officer in relation to Freedom of Information requests.
As a Senior Objection Officer, you willsupport the review and appeals processes and play a role in policy and legislative development for the ACT's tax laws.
The ideal applicants will have a good understanding and demonstrated ability to: interpret and apply legislation and other relevant policy/procedures to factual situations; have excellent written and oral communication skills; have the ability to draft administrative decisions and briefs in a clear and concise manner; have excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop and maintain effective relationships; have excellent organisational skills with a demonstrated ability to effectively manage time,
workflow and competing priorities; possess leadership in building commitment and delivering the best outcomes for colleagues and customers; have the ability to direct, supervise and develop staff.

Eligibility/ Other Requirements:
Legal qualifications and/or related experience are an advantage, but not required.
Note:
This is a temporary position available immediately for a period of up to 12 months with the possibility of permanency.
Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
